Reading, NetGalley, and Colin Fischer

Thank you NetGalley. Though I prefer the printed book in my hands, my interest in my Kindle has be rekindled by NetGalley. (Yes, I did mean to write that.) I have a 2nd generation Kindle, larger and heavier than the new ones - but it light enough, fits in my purse and does not tempt me with slick little word games.

This all came about as I was wandering through the bookmarks on my laptop and decided to see what was new on NetGalley as I hadn't visited it in a long time and need some idea of what is upcoming to help me compile book orders for the media center. Wow. If I had a cappucino I would have thought I was in Barnes & Noble. So many interesting books, bu I managed to curb my enthusiasm enough to request only four. I have also added the Bluefire App to my iPad to use in case of Kindle emergency.

What have I read while waiting for NetGalley approvals? Well, if you have not read Colin Fischer by Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz you are missing something wonderful. Interesting characters, great voice, and a storyline that will pique kids' interest, this book needs to be in middle/high schoolers' hands now! I was working with 8th graders writing Twitter-sized book reviews and used Colin Fischer as an example:

Autistic, teenage Sherlock Holmes solves school mystery and starts to unravel the mystery of school. http://linkyy.com/eCN =D

Next on the list are my two NetGalley reads, two Twisted Lit novels by Kim Askew and Amy Helmes, and a few more middle grade novels. I tend to post immediate reactions on Twitter. Follow @marciterp if you are interested.
